Fish Report

Our fish report is the total fish caught by our fleet during a week period. The 7 day cycle stars in a Friday and ends on Thursday of the next week.

The information is captured everyday by our land crew manger, Arturo Cota. He, a former captain, is well knowledge of our fishing grounds, which is helpful on giving us a clear picture of the condition throughout the week.

Water Temperature: 69-degree average at the beginning of the week, easing upward to 72-degrees the last three days. Beautiful, flat calm summer-like seas.

Air Temperature: Mid-70s during the day; high-60s at night. No wind at all, few clouds with the sun shining all week, all day long.

Fishing Spots and Distance: Lots of eager dorado everywhere. Our boats were fishing east from our hotel between 20 and 30 miles out. Marlin in good numbers in the same area. Excellent numbers of striped marlin are being contacted to the south of the resorts, south of Los Frailes. Here, warmer currents are congregating schools of mackerel and marlin are feeding aggressively.

Off-shore Fishing: Tons of dorado, plus a marlin per day at least, but they are well-fed since there are small squid in good amounts. But dorado dominate. March and April are known for dominate Dorado and Tuna fishing in the East Cape. Dorado fishing hads been impressive with sizes ranging 20-25#.

In-shore Fishing: Small roosters and sierra mackerel dominate. La Ribera area had good numbers of scrappy roosters during the week, and up north Punta Perico had some Bigtooth Snapper.

Bait Used: Sardines are available. Sardine size is kind of small, but acceptable. Plenty of mackerel to go around.

Highlight of the Week: Octogenarian Togo Hazard, fished the whole week and got 73 dorado with his good friend Kim Eady; they also fooled a sailfish and three striped marlin. All of them released.

See you next week!!!
